Austin Goes For A Dip

I have always loved summer birthday, because summer birthdays mean pool parties! And that's just what we attended last Friday night......A pool party for Nana and Kalli.
I was worried that Austin might be a little nervous in the pool but he loved it!
We're almost in!
This is fun! A giant bathtub!
Mama is so proud of her little swimmer.
How many people does it take to get a baby in a raft?
What a neat baby raft! It even came with toys!
Swimming with Aunt B. and Kyle...
The water matched his eyes perfectly!
I think he could get used to this!
Even Nana went swimming!
Pa had to work...
Dad got off work early to join in on the fun!
I couldn't resist a swim diaper picture. Those things are too stinking cute!
We can't wait to go again!

Happy Father's Day!

What Makes a Dad
God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle's flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so, He called it ... Dad

11 Months Old

A year ago today I was getting ready to take you to another ballgame at 37 weeks pregnant. I sat sweating at that game wondering what you'd be like. I never in my wildest dreams could have imagined such a sweet little eleven-month-old like you a year later...I think you're really starting to get bored with these wagon shots!Too bad! We'll be doing them every month for the next 17 years.

So what are you up to now that you're 11-months-old???

You love to holler.

You know that the phone goes to your ear.

You say cow when we say moo.

You know that a car say broooooom brooooom

Your favorite snacks are Gerber Little Crunchers. They have to stay hidden until you eat your fruits and veggies.

Your eyelashes could make any woman jealous.

You pull your imaginary train whistle when we ask you what Daddy's train says.

You lay your head down when we say "aw, lay your head down" or "are you tired?"

You love doors, but you haven't figured out that they won't open if you are in front of them.
You pretend to not know what "no" means.

You mimic your Aunt B. when she makes "banana sounds." (Much to mom's dismay...)

You will not leave the quilt above your changing table alone.

You give high fives.

You love grapes.

You started taking steps (while we held your arms)! You usually do much better then you did in the following video. We think someone spiked your apple juice.

You are becoming a night owl

You love eating ice cream with your Pa

You are a big help when we put your shirt on.

You love to push yourself around your ABC bus.
You love love love to be outside.

You got your first tooth!

You starting to hate all baby food. The best way to get you to eat them is to read you the ingredients while you eat. (Crazy, I know...)

You have 80 frozen meals.

You still have $95.00 in "diaper money" on Wal-Mart gift cards.

You are now sleeping in a lower crib.

You can get where ever you want to go but scooting on your bottom. And you get there fast!

You've learned to splash (make a mess!) in the tub
You've mastered the sippy cup! You also know how to throw it on the floor over and over again.

Your favorite toys right now are your wooden train and Little People Barn.

You move your head up and down, and say something that resembles "down" when you put your head down.

You say "yeah."

It's hard to believe this the last month of your first year. Everyone said it would go fast but of course we didn't realize they meant THIS fast! We've enjoyed watching you turn into such a curious little boy. Just when we think we have you figured out... you wow us with another trick! We love you Austin! Happy 11-month birthday baby!

When It's Not Raining...

We like to play outside when it's not raining (which isn't very often these days...)
It's nice to let our piggies play in the grass...
Sometimes we even practice our walking...
Or we just lay around with some good reading material...
One thing we won't be doing again is eating grass...
Yuck!

I'm not ready...

They tell you to baby-proof your home before your child starts to move. Did we listen? Nope! We thought we had plenty of time. I mean he's only 10 1/2 months old! I went into panic mode tonight when I realized that outlets and corners need to be covered, valuables and breakables need to be locked away, plants need to be removed, floors need to be kept swept and MORE!

Why am I so stressed? Because this started over the weekend...

Austin has started scooting on his bottom. (This could be history repeating itself, since Mama here was a scooter until 18 months!) He's been moving for awhile but nothing like this! He's getting faster each day! Which leads to things like this when I leave the room...
It is so strange to walk into a room and find him on the other side. I am SO not ready, but I must admit it melts my heart when I turn around and see my little scooter following behind me!
