I can't make this stuff up!

Austin's favorite toy, his grill, came with a pair of tongs. He refers to them as "makers" and enjoys...

...wearing them on his face!
We have no idea where he came up with this idea, but we often find him walking around the house with his makers on. This is just one of those things you can't make up! God love this kid...and his makers!

Mail Time!

Here's the mail
It never fails...

It makes me wanna wag my tail
When it comes I wanna wail...

Mail!!!Austin loves getting the mail each day, so he was super excited when we brought our old mailbox in the house after putting up a new one. We mailed anything and everything that afternoon. He was just as excited the 20th time as the first!

Mail, Mama! Surprise!

Oink, Cluck, Moo... Thank You!

Austin would like to thank everyone that helped make his birthday extra special. We're all so lucky to have each and every one of you!

Smores!

The cool evenings have been perfect for roasting marshmallows! Jay was excited to help Austin roast his first marshmallow over our fire pit (that hasn't been lit since over two years ago at our baby shower).
Austin didn't get too excited about the actual roasting, but he loved the result...
I see a lot of smores in our future! What a fun yummy, sticky fall treat!

Pee-Pee Potty!

Austin has something he wants to show you! It's his "pee-pee potty" sticker chart! He gets to put a sticker on his chart every time he goes on the potty. It's been a slow start but the progress has been good!
We only make him sit on his go-go (Diego) potty when he gets up, before nap time, after nap time and right before bed.
He loves showing Dad the stickers he earned during the day. One night, when he was super excited, we were worried he was going to either hyperventilate or rip the bathroom door off when it was time to show off his new stickers.
After just a week... We still have a long way to go, but everyone is excited about the possibility of a diaper-less future! I think it will be a long time before he's actually telling us he has to go potty (and #2 will be a whole different story), but I guess you have to start somewhere, right?!?

Branson Part II: Silver Dollar City

We were up and at 'em bright and early on Monday morning. Everyone was excited to get to Silver Dollar City! Austin didn't want anything to do with the rides -- he even flipped out when the guy tried to measure him. It was a nice day but we did run into a bit of rain while we were on our train ride. We tried to bribe them to let us stay on but they weren't having it. We made a run for it and took shelter on the porch of a small store until the rain passed. We made a few more stops, stocked up on suvies (including Austin's first pop gun), and shared a funnel cake before calling it a day.
We got home early enough to give everyone enough time to rest before heading to Branson Landing for the night. Austin knew that I wanted a picture of everything he did, so he started asking to get his picture taken when he wanted to do something. He ran to the four wheeler in front of Bass Pro and said, "picture, mama, picture!" The landing is so pretty in the evening. I think we all could have sat around the water all night long, if we weren't so hungry! We decided on Famous Dave's -- and we weren't disappointed! Yum-O!
The vacation was going great until...the Pacie Bandit showed up!
We had so much fun in Branson. Austin is still talking about the "con-doo" and "cation." There's just something about four days of rest and relaxation that make you realize how great your family is! We can't wait to see where the road takes us next year!

Branson Part I: Saturday & Sunday

Everyone was so excited to get our vacation started. The women and Austin left out early on Saturday morning. We stopped around 12:30 at the Burger King in Rolla -- big mistake. The visit still turns my stomach. We'll definitely make a mental note not to stop there again! We arrived at our condo (or Con-dooo, as Austin calls it) around 3:00. The entire trip went surprisingly well...even with Austin napping less then an hour. We were pleasantly pleased with our digs - three king sizes bed and private bathrooms. Aunt B spoiled Austin while we waited for the men to show up. He was very excited about his new truck, complete with bales, corn, potatoes and tomatoes! The boys finally arrived around dinner time. Nana whipped us up a fantastic dinner of t-bones, potato salad, slaw and bread.
Austin's loved climbing the stairs to B and CC's loft to tickle CC's feet. As you can see, at one point he had all seven of us in bed together. A family can't get much closer than this!
The night was still early, so we decided to head to the scenic view. Everyone was hungry again when we realized there was an ice cream shop across the road! It was time to hit the hay after bath time. Austin claimed he wanted to sleep in Nana and Pa's closet. (I kind of wish we would have let him after we wrestled with him for two nights in our bed. It was like sleeping with a 30lb fish out of water!)
We were treated to a breakfast fit for a king on Sunday morning. Austin even had pancakes with "chips on 'em!" (He won't eat pancakes without chocolate chips melted on top.)
We headed to the outlet mall after our bellies were full. I won the mother of the year award when I found out Austin was wearing shoes a size and a half too small! Dropping $60 at Stride Rite helped ease the guilt a bit...
We headed home for a bit of rest and relaxation before heading to the Dixie Stampede for dinner. Austin was terrified of the pre-show but loved the stampede itself. Everyone enjoyed pigging out (without utensils!) and we were all excited to be on the victorious side - The South, of course!
We ended the night with playing cards, hide-and-seek and reading books. Austin would tell everyone when it was their turn to hide and then lay on the couch counting, "2, 1, 2, 1." It was a good thing we had three bathrooms...you have to get a little creative when hiding in such a small place!
Tomorrow we head to Silver Dollar City!
