Whatever Works: Going #2

We've been struggling to get Austin to go #2 on the potty. I read that sometimes it's hard for toddlers to go #2 because their legs are dangling in midair. We added a storage tub for comfort...and it has worked! We're still having accidents here and there, but I think we're moving in the right direction. Whatever works, right?!?

Random Ouchie

Can you see Austin's latest boo-boo? You'll have to look closely and look past the dirty face....

Let's take a closer look....

Do you see it right between his eyebrows? But what is it?? Ringworm??

Nope! Big Cat had a run in with one of these....

...while out to lunch with Nana and B last week! He went in for a drink with a little too much force and ended up with a "straw cut" on his forehead! We should probably use this to our advantage and event some sort of childproof straws. Maybe we'd make millions!

Full Full-Size Bed

We decided to convert Austin's toddler bed into a full-size bed after too many nights of three people sharing the Con-doooo. I was hesitant to believe this would work but so far so good! He goes to bed without a fight and stays there ALL NIGHT! Of course he's not alone in this bed....all his animals, tractors, pillows, and blankets made the transition with him. You'll probably even find a few special rocks if you look close enough!
(Special side note - did you notice he still sleeps with this music box? The other day I asked him if JP can borrow his music box when he gets here...and he politely told me "no, JP get his own!")

Going for a walk

One of our favorite things to do, while living at Aunt B's, is taking a nice, long walk in the evening. It's great exercise and it works out all the hyper energy left over from the day. Austin loves to collect rocks and check out all the crops. We even walk "all the way" to Nana's when the weather is extra nice.
We have to check out the beans, wheat and corn as we head down B's lane. We make many stops to look at water puddles, bugs, and of course, special rocks.
The fields were extra busy on this particular night. Here, you see the Pretzels Wetzel's combining wheat...
We always stop to check the mail at the end of B's lane -- even on Sundays! It was a beautiful night and Mama was feeling good, so we made the long 1/10 of a mile journey to Nana and Pa's lane.
We found Reinhardt's lose soybeans along the way...
...and we threw them in the field so they'd have a fair shot at growing big and strong!
We FINALLY made it to Nana and Pa's!
The hay field is the last crop we have to check for the night.
The reward after our long journey.... Playing in the Ford!
...and taking a trip to the pond in the Ranger with Pa and Aunt B!
We're super excited about moving into our new house...but I think we're going to miss our nightly walks to the farm!

Blog Hijack: JP @ 15 Weeks

Your growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of an apple).

The 15th week of J.P.'s pregnancy was definitly not dull.  I started with a mild headache over the weekend. By Monday night it felt like someone was trying to remove my brain. I finally got a hold of the doctor around noon on Tuesday and was advised to head to the Woman's Evaluation Unit at St. John's for observation.

The nurse told me that they'd probably just give me fluids via an IV...hold the phone... I've only had two IVs in my live and neither of them were a pleasant experience... Seriously the worst part of Austin's labor and delivery was getting the IV.....but I put on my brave face and got it done for J.P. It went surprisingly well. Apparently the needles they use for surgery and labor/delivery are bigger than what the used yesterday. Phew.
They administered some magical headache/nausea medicine and my headache was completely gone. They think, due to the color of my urine sample, that the headache was caused from dehydration. Apparently urine is supposed to look like 7-Up and mine looked like tea - fun fact! :) We were good to go only a few hours after we got there. I think the headache medicine made me a little antsy because I couldn't sit still the entire ride home.
Hopefully this is as eventful as this pregnancy gets! Only 5 weeks until we know if J.P. is a boy or girl!

Our Little House on The Prairie: Basement!

The crew started digging our basement on May 27. The first few days were busy busy as they worked to get the basement dug, rock poured and plastic down before the rain.

A few days later footings were poured and concrete forms were put up.

The concrete was poured via a Pumper Truck which was neat for everyone to watch - and a topic of conversations for the locals, I'm sure!
We have the best quality assurance team around. We don't have to worry that any corners will be cut with these too keeping a close eye on every step!
Looks like a real basement now!
A few days later we had a basement floor!
Future bar and bathroom we hope to have someday down the road...
It's so exciting to watch all of the progress each day. We still can't believe this is really happening!! We're going to have our own brand new house by the end the year!
