Book Worm

Two of Austin's favorite things are being outside and reading his books. I love it when it's cool enough to combine the two!
We grab his basket of books and head outside for some light reading on the porch. The best part is that he stays in one spot instead of running all over the place! Happy Summer Reading!

Pre-Bridal Pics

By Austin

Being a ring bearer has already been so much fun. My favorite part so far are my dancing shoes! I would wear them all day long if my mom would let me.

A few weekends ago, I got to get all dressed up to have pre-bridal pictures taken with "Krissin." She looked so pretty in her wedding dress. I had to remind my mom not to post any pictures of me with her just yet. We don't want anyone seeing her dress before the big day!I'll admit that the whole thing was a little bit overwhelming for me. I tried to be brave, but I'm just so shy sometimes. I didn't know what to do around all those women! They were everywhere!

Aunt Win surprised me with a new John Deere dump truck when we were finished. She didn't have to do that but I sure enjoyed it! I've been carrying it (and the box) around since that day.
Only 18 days until I get to wear my dancing shoes!!!

23 Months

17 Months - 18 Months - 19 Months - 20 Months - 21 Months - 22 Months

Austin, at 23 months old...
You started saying you're having "trouble" when something is too hard for you.

You like to stand in front of your book shelf and says "how about???" And then say "no" to each and every book I pick out.You like to say "sorry" when you trip or fall.

You could live on milk, grapes and pancakes.

You like to hum.You say goodbye by saying: Bye! Peace! Out!

You like to sing Opara with Nana

You love the computer. Especially youtube videos of tractors and trains. You refer to yourself as Ging-Ging or Tin-Tin.

You ask for fries and burgers when you see McDonald's.

You love to wear your sunglasses. You are super shy around people you don't see very often.

Your face gets red as soon as we get outside.

You enjoy feeding the cows, especially when you can give them a "piece piece" of corn. You are such a sweet little boy. Last weekend, a photographer told me that you are so "kind-hearted." It warmed my heart and made me so proud!

Love you!

A No Band-Aid Kid

We had our first "serious" skinned knee about a week ago. I wasn't there, so I'm not sure what exactly happened, but I know all parties involved felt just as bad as Austin's knee hurt. It was old news by the time I got home, but he still wanted nothing to do with ointment or band-aids. He could have cared less when I showed him how cool the Elmo band-aids were. I tried to show him they didn't hurt by putting one on my own arm, but I'm pretty sure he caught me wince when I pulled the darn thing off!

I knew we had to get something on it because it was begging for an infection. Just look how raw the center was! We eventually worked out a plan... Dad held a book near his face (much like they do with a sheet during surgery) while I applied ointment and two band-aids. I quickly slipped on his PJ pants before he even knew what was going on!

Always an adventure!

I Started Him Young...

They say that some adults spend more then 8 hours a day in front of a computer screen. I'd say it's safe to say I can put those numbers to shame. I spend a lot of time on the computer even after I spend 8 hours in front of it at work. So I guess it's no surprise that my son might have the same slight addiction...
His big thing is watching videos of trains. All evening we hear, "wah-wap (lap), trains, trains, trains, wah-wap, trains, trains, wah-wap, chair, trains, trains, trains." Just recently, he figured out how to climb in the chair himself. He hasn't figured out how to use the mouse but I'm sure it's not far behind.

Any bets on when he gets his first laptop??

Role Models

Between all the clapping, celebrating and cake, I got to thinking about how special these three people are to Austin. We are all SO BLESSED to have them in our lives. I look forward to watching them all take the next step of life.

"My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
Your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
And while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish."

RBHS Class of 2010

Our last stop on our tour of celebrations was at the RBHS track. The evening was absolutely beautiful for a graduation. If standing at a small town graduation, on a beautiful night, doesn't make you feel proud to be an American...I don't know what will!Congratulations, Stefan! We are all so proud of you and wish you nothing but the best in life!

The fireworks begin today. Each diploma is a lighted match. Each one of you is a fuse.

RBES Class of 2010

The week of Kyle's confirmation was a busy one for our family. We got to celebrate not one, not two, but three awesome accomplishments. The second one of the week was Kalli's eighth grade graduation....Austin did really well through the graduation considering it had to be pushing 100 degrees in the gym. It feels like all RB graduations are the same...the sun comes out at soon as they make the decision to move the ceremony inside. Maybe they'll air condition the gyms before Austin graduates!
We are all so proud of Kalli and the things she's accomplished in her years at RBES. She makes us so proud!
Congratulations, Kalli! Enjoy the next four years to the fullest!

There is a good reason they call these ceremonies "commencement exercises." Graduation is not the end; it's the beginning. ~Orrin Hatch

Confirming Disciples 2010

It seems like just yesterday we were watching Kalli get confirmed. Here we are, a year later, watching Kyle confirm his faith before God, Family and Friends. Austin was good in church, but we really have to work on our "inside voice." The entire church knew we were there to see Ky-ky.
It's hard to believe my first Godbaby is already confirmed! Congratulations, Kyle. You make us all so proud.

We're still here!

We just wanted to let everyone know that we're still here! We have plenty of stuff to update you on -- confirmation, graduations and random fun -- but there just aren't enough hours in the day when you have an almost-two-year-old! (There, I said it! I'm slowly facing reality that my baby is almost two!)
