Christmas Eve {2010}

Christmas Eve couldn't have been any prettier this year. It was just enough snow for a white Christmas! We spent a quiet morning at home before heading to the Grandma and Grandpa FerFer's.
Austin loved spending time with his Uncle Jonathan. They haven't seen each other in some time, but it didn't take long for them to bond over matchbox cars! We were all blessed with lots of goodies, including a cat piano, a truck that stores matchbox cars, and Alphie the Robot.

Austin was wore out by the time we left for home. He didn't even get to leave Santa any cookies!

Goal #2 of 2011 is COMPLETE! As of today, we have been Paci FREE for TWO WHOLE WEEKS!

 The first picture of the beloved Paci {4 weeks - Aug 2008}

The last picture of Austin and his Paci {Almost 2 1/2 - Dec 2010}

We'd like to give a shout out to Aunt B for making this possible! She pretended to throw his paci in the trash...and the rest is history! He's only asked for it a handful of times since "B threw my paci in trash!" Who knew it would be this easy?!? Thanks, Aunt B!!!!! Now you can get to work on potty training... :)

Austin's Message From Santa

You can see the video here: Austin's message from Santa
He obviously wasn't sure what to think about Santa talking to him through Mom's computer...but I sure thought it was cute!

Is he REALLY gone?

As I mentioned in the post about St. Nick's Day, Austin was a bit leery whenever we'd tell him Santa was here. The first night, when I announced that Santa had left him a surprise, he ran into our "condooo" and hid under the covers until we promised him that Santa was really gone.
It only took him a few nights to realize that Santa leaving something in his stocking was a good thing...not something to be scared of! Santa left all kinds of goodies for him...candy, books, cars, movies and even a coloring book at going on the big boy potty (which actually worked, even if only for ONE night). I have a feeling we won't have to coax him to check his stocking next year!

Christmas Crafts

Please pretend that this is a beautiful craft tutorial that you'd see on those other fancy-dancy mommy blogs...

In early December, I was thumbing through my latest Colorful Images catalog, when I came across the cutest ornament idea. While I loved the idea, I didn't love that they were $6.99 for two or that you didn't get to choose between a snowman or a reindeer.
I put on my thinking cap and headed to Archivers to get my supplies...The first step was to get Austin's fingerprints on paper. There are no pictures because the event was fast and dirty - literally.
I drew the deer and cut out the square after his prints had dried.  Then we added a sparkly, red nose and a red paper boarder.  (Ignore my lens cap... I don't know how those fancy blog crafters do it!)

We finished the ornament with green boarder, ribbon and the date.
Voila! 12 ornaments for about $10!
Hopefully everyone will enjoy these for years to come!

Playing Catch Up: "Hurt Self on Trim!"

This is our biggest ouchie to date...10 days before Christmas, Austin was running around the kitchen when he slipped and cracked his head on a corner piece of trim. He had a goose egg before I could even pick him up. Nana, Pa and B had just left the house so we quickly called them back to assess the situation.
Jay happened to call as the drama was unfolding...I have a feeling the Focus went a little faster then it was supposed to the rest of the way home. Everyone decided that no stitches were needed, but we should keep him up for a few hours just to be safe.
He had to show Jay exactly where the accident happened. He kept saying "right here, Dad, on trim!"
It's amazing how quickly they he gets over cuts and scrapes. I wake up the next day still thinking about it and he doesn't even seem to notice!

Does decorating your Christmas tree ever seem like too much work? Have you ever thought about having someone else decorate your tree for Christmas? Maybe paying someone just to put the finishing touches on it? You may want to consider it in 2011...
