Christmas Snow {2010}

So back in December we were all excited about having a white Christmas. Now, as I sit here with 6 - 8 inches on top of an inch of ice in February, we can't wait for it to go away! Anyway, here are a few pictures from the snow we enjoyed around the end of the year.
After playing for a bit in our yard, we headed over to Stefan's to see his BIG (like 10ft, big!) snowman....
At the time these pictures were taken, I would have finished this post with "We love snow!" But today I'll say.... We can't wait for SPRING!

Editied to add that Austin and Stefan's snowman made the North County News!

The Day After Christmas {2010}

The day after Christmas was packed full of family, fun and fun! We headed over to the Ferfer's to spend time with Great Aunt Carol and Great Uncle Roger. All the presents Austin had received the past few days...and he STILL wanted to play with Grandma Ferfer's old matchbox cars! We visited, opened gifts and shared cookies before heading back to Prairie for the Farrar Family Christmas.
The first thing Austin said was "look at all these presents!" I think he thought they were ALL for him! We dinned on yummy soups and appetizers before opening gifts and taking newspaper-worthy family pictures! (Too bad the boys won't let us share them on Facebook!)

We are so lucky to have such a wonderful extended family. Everyone went above and beyond to help make this Christmas as special as possible for us. We love them all so very much!!

Christmas Night {2010}

Nana, Pa and Aunt B decided to come to our house for Christmas this year. We wanted to do something a little different, and also spend one more Christmas in the old farm house.
Can you tell how much Austin loves his Aunt B? I don't think it will be long before these two are partners in crime.
We had a fun evening of opening presents, eating way to much fun and playing a horse race game. Austin even put together a band with Pa on the keyboard, Nana on the guitar and B on the maracas! The drum from Aunt B was extra special because Uncle CC was with her when she picked it out. We joked that Uncle CC probably gets a good laugh every time Austin plays the drums a little too loud!

Where's Nana -- a sign that you have to many gifts to open - you lose someone in the wrapping paper! We thought we were finished with gifts until Nana announced that there was one more special gift. The only way to find it was to follow the purple string that ran all through the house. We finally got to the end and found.....
 ...a HORSE! Austin couldn't wait to go for a ride. He rode his horse while the adults went to the horse races!
Yee- Haw! Have you ever seen a cuter cowboy in an Amish straw hat? I didn't think so.
Soon it was time to get into PJs for some Christmas snuggles. It was late but no one wanted the night to be over. We opened (ugh, twisty ties!) and played with new toys until we couldn't go anymore
Merry Christmas!!

Christmas Morning {2010}

Austin was up way before the sun on Christmas morning. It was too dark for him to even notice Santa had been there. We attempted to keep him in bed until we realized we were both too excited to go back to sleep.
As with the stockings, he was a little confused about why these presents just showed up in our living room. He was cautiously excited until he realized that all of this stuff was REALLY for HIM!
 Santa came through... a fork lift! Just what Austin asked for when we visited him at the mall!
We spent the rest of the morning playing with new toys, eating yummy leftovers from the FerFer's and getting ready for Christmas night with Nana, Pa and Aunt B!
