As you all know, I
LOVE planning Austin's birthday parties. We were
flying high his first birthday, last year we were
down on the farm and this year....we were
under construction! It felt like a good theme considering our new house is currently under construction. We decided to have the party at the Ruma hall because a) no house and b) our garage is packed with almost everything we own. Having it at the hall worked out perfectly and I can definitely see us having it there again in the future. There was plenty of room and we didn't have to worry about the heat. On to the details....
| We set the scene with "dump everything" invites found on Etsy |
| The tables decorated with flowers, orange placements, caution tape, construction cones, our house plans and hard hats. |
| The dessert table during construction... |
| We added "dirt cupcakes" and "cake ball boulders" |
| The birthday boy's cupcake! |
| Dirt Dessert! |
| Austin's cupcake with this gift from the Hentis' - a pet fish! |
| A shot of the dessert table before we added the dirt dessert, fruit and fish |
| Candy dump trucks |
| Food line during construction |
| Forks, knifes and spoons in a nail bucket we found at our new house |
| The food! Fried chicken, chicken strips, potato salad, slaw, pasta salad, beans, broccoli casserole, veggie tray, chips and bread. |
| Drinks! |
| Ice Bucket |
| The drinks, food, gifts and cake all had construction signs like the one seen here. |
| Clock in zone! Time to get to work! Vests, hard hats, house plans, colors, stickers, bubbles and construction cones for the kiddos! |
| Birthday book for family and friends to sign |
| Balloons |
| Uncle CC's Hard Hat |
| Signs around the hall |
| Being orange, "Schwimmy" fit right into the decor! |
| "Kids a Play" area during construction - House plans to decorate, construction puzzle, lace-up construction vehicles, blocks of wood, rocks and trucks and a bulldozer tent! |
We had a lot of fun putting this party together. I was happy with the way everything eventually came together.
You are awesome!! You always do such a neat job for his parties! I may need some of your ideas/crafts when the new school year rolls around :)
