I went back and forth on a couple 1st birthday themes before finally deciding on "cute as a button." It proved to be a tough theme because there aren't a lot of pre-made things you can buy. In the end it was almost a cute as the birthday girl herself!
We had about 4 hours to make the hall cute as a button before the guest arrived. Aubrey's Nana, Aunt B., Godmama Kalli, Great Aunt Lynn and Great Aunt Lolo jumped right in to make sure everything was perfect. I was a bit nervous when I realized the hall was decorated for Christmas. But no worries...we just took down the red bow and decorated the tree to match our theme - complete with giant paper plate buttons!
Even the table Aubrey got from Lynn and Dave was set for a small party of four...
The book for all her guest to sign...
Favors. Notebooks for the big kids and "A" puff for the babies.
The cake was a bit of a drama source. Due to a family emergency, the lady that was supposed to make the cake, smash cake and 75 cookies backed out two days before the party. Aunt Lolo came to the rescue with her unknown fondant skills.... it couldn't have turned out more perfect!
Other details... button chocolates, the dessert/gift table, etc.....
Lunch was sandwiches, potato soup and chili with all the fixings
These two were something else about 30 minutes before the party - finally spilling chili before we finally made them sit down!
Before we knew it, the birthday girl was arriving and it was time to get her all dolled up for her big day!
Presents! She did really well through the first half...then it was on to whatever else she could get her hands into. Her big Brother definitely enjoyed himself!| Breck checking out all the girl toys! |
This girl hates to have her feet covered as much as her mama does!
Time for cake!
This is a real life video...if you make it until the end, you'll even see her gag on fondant! You'll also notice that she doesn't skip a beat, and just keeps on eating!
A few more pictures from the day...
I love all my presents!
Our happiest guest may have been Godpapa Kyky. Who knew that a sub sandwich and bag of ice cream cups could make some someone so happy?!
Happy Birthday to Aubrey Marie, our Cute as a Button Baby Girl!
